Although rumors about this long enough, Audi has confirmed that Q8 SUV will reach production. Although prepared to compete with the BMW X6 and the Range Rover Sport, the presence of Q8 is approximately three years.
In conversation with Autocar at the LA Auto Show, Audi technical chief, Ulrich Hackenberg confirms that Q8 will also feature the company's new design language, which was first shown by Prologue Concept in LA. "Q8 is coming soon," according to Hackenberg.
"It will be something new ... and will be positioned as something more emotional and more sporty than the Q7. Q7 will be the car for seven people, Q8 will be more like a coupe." Audi Q8 will be aimed specifically at the US market, China and the Middle East.
In terms of technology, it would be equivalent to the A8 sedan. A unit V6 3.0 liter twin-turbo will be used as a standard, while the RS will Q8 (which is guaranteed to be present) most likely will carry a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo.
There is even a possibility of a full electric version that will compete directly with the upcoming Tesla Model X. Overall, Q8 is expected to become a more sporty SUV and more expensive than the Q7, which will be the last new Audi styling features today. (carbuzz 11/21/2014)
