Stephen William Hawking's full name, he was born on January 8, 1942 in Oxford, England, from the couple Frank and Isobel Hawking Hawking. The day coincides with the birth of 300 years after the death of Italian scientist, Galileo Galilei.
His passion lies in the science of astronomy is evidenced through the Big Bang theory and the black hole that he instigated. At age 21, he was sentenced to suffer from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Instead of lamenting, he actually did a lot of work Physics and Cosmology.
Physics
Hawking's childhood along with World War II and the family's economic situation is not good. Since the age of eight years old, the family moved to St. Hawking Albans, about 32 kilometers north part of London.
The father turns crave Hawking took a course of medicine. But he was more interested in the mathematical sciences.
Hawking studying at University College in Oxford at the age of 17 years. Upon learning of mathematics idak courses available at the university, Hawking took physics. In 1962, he graduated with honors 'first class honors degree'. He continued his education Cosmology at the University of Cambridge for his Ph.D.
ALS disease
The first year of learning at Oxford, Hawking began to feel something strange of his physical health. He often stumble or fall suddenly. Initially, he did not disclose it to anyone, until one day her father took her to the doctor.

Since the inspection, living Hawking who was then aged 21 years began to be filled by a series of medical tests. Sampling of the arm muscles, inserting electrodes (electrode) into his body, until opaque fluid injected into his spine were then observed through X-rays are a few tests that Hawking did.
When diagnosed with ALS - a disease in which the nerves that regulate the action of muscles has died - the doctor had to tell the rest of Hawking did not live up to three years.
Rather than dissolve in grief, Hawking actually see a lot of opportunities that can be done for the rest of his life he predicted that short.
Sure enough, a little more colorful mood since I met a woman named Jane Wilde when the New Year's party in 1963. They decided to get married in 1965.
ALS Not a barrier
Once married Jane Wilde, both blessed with a son named Robert in 1967. He then became a member of the Institute of Astronomy in Cambridge in 1968.
In 1969, Hawking and Wilde's second child was born, named Lucy. In the same year, Hawking is required to use a wheelchair because of her setting ability is gone. Ten years later, the couple returned blessed with a child named Timothy.
Hawking with Roger Penrose, an expert cosmologist, show Einstein's theory of relativity implies that space and time began at the Big Bang and an end in the 'black hole'.
Hawking later became Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at Cambridge University, where centuries ago the position once occupied by Sir Isaac Newton.
Some very well-known publication, among others, The Large Scale Structure of Space-Time, A Brief History of Time, Black Holes and Baby Universes and Other Essays, The Universe in a Nutshell, and My Brief History.
Hawking has won 12 honors such as the title of CBE, Fellow of the Royal Society, and a Member of the US National Academy of Science.
After the divorce with Wilde in 1995, Hawking married Elaine Mason. Her marriage to Mason only lasted for 11 years.
Until now, Hawking became Director of Research in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at Cambridge. He also founded the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology.
With limited physical capabilities, Hawking has not stopped hoping that he can travel into space someday.
