Jonas Salk was born in New York, October 28, 1914. After graduating, Jonas Salk and then worked at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School, USA. There he examined the viruses that cause the flu and help make the vaccine. In this place he also learned how vaccines work in giving one's immune.

In 1947, Jonas Salk in cooperation with the National Foundation of Infantile Paralysis trying to find a polio vaccine. Because when the polio epidemic is attacking the United States and caused tens of thousands of children have been paralyzed due to this disease.

After eight years of research, finally on April 12, 1955, Jonas Salk announced that she managed to find a vaccine is considered effective in preventing polio. After the announcement, millions of children nationwide mass vaccination program in the United States and the results are satisfactory.

Besides credited with finding the polio vaccine, Jonas Salk Jonas Salk also founded the Institute for Biological Studies, a research center in the medical field. At the center of this research, Jonas Salk devoted his life to researching AIDS vaccine. Unfortunately, before she managed to find him, Jonas Salk died on June 23, 1995.
