Soft Top Roof Spied - Chevrolet Camaro Convertible 2017

At this year's SEMA show, Chevrolet has the fifth-generation Camaro fans a little teary-eyed thanks to a model called the Commemorative Edition artwork. But you know what some people say about the end is also a beginning. Seem to apply to the Camaro as well.

Cue the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, which was one of the most exciting new cars that will be launched next year. For the sixth-gen, General Motors would have to get rid of the Zeta platform way too old. Instead we get a modern Alpha platform GM debuted the new Cadillac ATS and CTS.

Designed to accommodate both rear wheel drive and all-wheel drive setup, this platform is focused on weight reduction thanks to a lot of high-strength steel and aluminum alloys. Aside from better structural rigidity and weight savings, the new Chevy Camaro will adopt MacPherson struts at the front to join the five-link independent rear for true sporty handling characteristics.

Overall, the horses are looking much more dynamic than the current generation Camaro and necessary if the GM wants to have a chance against the 2015 Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger 2015. But this latest batch of photos of the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible makes us like new-gen even more than before.

As before we suspect, the drop-top is made of fabric, which is a breath of fresh air in the world pulled upset about tin peak you see in most cars today. Oily bits? Expect the usual V6 and V8 option, although a little over, and factory four-cylinder EcoBoost turbocharged 2L-rival.

As for the gear-swapping business, stick shift will come as standard, while the LT1 V8 will surely offer options that come in the form of quick-shifting Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed automatic from the 2015 Corvette.
