Returning from Africa, US Doctors Infected Positive Ebola - New York - A doctor in New York, United States (US) tested positive for Ebola infection. This doctor is known just returned from Guinea, West Africa.



As reported in the local media, the New York Times and reported by Reuters on Friday (10/24/2014), Dr. Craig Spencer worked for a humanitarian organization, Doctors Without Borders, in Guinea, one of the three West African countries most severely affected due to Ebola.

Arriving in New York, 33-year-old doctor suffering from fever and symptoms of indigestion. He told Doctors Without Borders on Thursday (23/10) morning local time.

Spencer was taken to the Hospital Belevue from his apartment in Manhattan. Spencer was taken by a special team wearing protective clothing and equipment.

In its report, the New York Times mentioned that Spencer had tested positive for Ebola infection. This means, Spencer is the first Ebola patients in New York, after several people previously infected in other US regions.

According to the New York Times, Spencer still will undergo further tests by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to ensure the results of the initial test.

In response to this issue, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo will hold a press conference at 21.00 local time. A spokesman for the mayor Blasio said he could not confirm or deny the report, before the press conference was held.
