Superhero Superman fame is undeniable again. The first Superman comic to be auctioned on eBay, even sold billions of dollars.
Inaugural edition Superman comic published in June 1938, sold $ 3.2 million (equivalent to USD 37 billion) in an auction. Launched by the BBC, Metropolis Comics from New York claimed to have bought the comic.
eBay auction stated value of the Superman comic is a new record for the price of a single comic. The selling price is obtained after the auction held online for 10 days. It beat the previous highest sales value reached USD 2.16 million (USD 25 billion).
"Action Comics No. 1" is the first copies containing the adventures of Superman. This comic made by teenagers from Cleveland, Ohio, USA, that Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. When sold in 1938, it cost only 10 cents (equivalent to USD 950). But along with the popularity of Superman at the moment, copies are hunted by his fans.
Copies of "Action Comics No. 1" is sold on the auction site eBay are in almost perfect condition, with a value of 9 on a scale of 10. This value is very rarely given in the measurement condition of a vintage comic book.
Superman comics are stored for decades in a wooden cabinet in the mountains of West Virginia by a man who bought it from the newsstand. After the original owner died, the family sold the comic to an antique dealer in 1980. The comic was eventually reach the hands of Darren Adams, who runs the shop Pristine Comics in the state of Washington.
